One of the effects of letting me run my own forum is that inevitably some of my interest in web design creeps into it. On Proboards, that means skins. There's the default Proboards skin, slightly enlivened by my nifty logo, but so far I've created one alternate skin. Called 'Classic September', this skin is inspired by the colour scheme of the original SeptNoWriMo site. It's probably going to be joined by a few others during September.
If you'd like to try out this skin, go to your profile and select the 'Modify Profile' option. Scroll down the page a ways and when you get to Account Preferences you'll see the words 'select skin' and a dropdown box showing the names of all the available skins.

I like Classic September. I think I'll keep it.

I've made some small changes to the default skin. Remember, there is also the Classic September skin if you prefer light text on a darker background.

I've set the default skin to Classic September. For anyone who preferred the white-based skin, you can switch back to it in your profile if you like.

I'm thinking about making a green-on-white skin based on 'Better than Default'. What does everyone think?

I think that is a good idea. I like dark skins myself, but some prefer light ones, so at least one light one would be good.

Yes, dark is better. Easier on the eyes.
